The House Resolution 16-090 introduced by Rep. Edwin Aldan, Covenant-Tinian also wishes Manglona the best of luck in the upcoming 2009 XTERRA World Championship in Maui, Hawaii in October.
Born on Saipan on April 19, 1988, Manglona tried the triathlon for the first time when he competed in the Tinian Turquoise Blue Triathlon on June 14, 2008 at the young age of 20.
He then, became devoted to the sport and competed in other triathlons and marathons that followed.
Manglona participated in the Rota Blue Triathlon in November 2008, where he finished the three courses in two hours, 57 minutes, and 11 seconds. He also tested his might in the Saipan Marathon in January 2008, completing the entire courses in 4 hours, 34 minutes, and 58 seconds.
Manglona also competed in the 9th Saipan XTERRA Championship triathlon last April 18, 2009, completing the 1.5-kilometer swim in 30 minutes and 39 seconds, the 30- kilometer bike in two hours, 26 minutes, and 16 seconds, and the 12-kilometer run in one hour, 38 minutes, and 56 seconds; and the 20th Tagaman Championship triathlon last April 25, 2009, completing the two two-kilometer swim in 47 minutes and 29 seconds, 60 km bike in 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 31 seconds, and the 15-kilometer run in one hour, 30 minutes, and 6 seconds.
Throughout his life, Manglona has shown his love for athletics and competition. Yet, he managed to enlist himself in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps during his high school years and because of his commitment and dedication, he earned the prestigious rank of Battalion Commander during his senior year.
In 2004 and 2005, Manglona also played football in the Commonwealth Football League for the Tinian Typhoon football team; and
Seeing the result of his performances in recent triathlons, the managing director invited Manglona to compete in XTERRA World Championship.
Manglona’s motto, the House also noted, is “never give up, keep pushing forward.”
