Now dominant in the Agingan division, the Hustlers stand with 54 wins and 23 losses, bumping the Jonny’s Home Boyz into second place. Both Hustlers’ Jerry Soriano and Erwin Gomez darted off to a good start, beating Ben Norita and Jerry Ayuyu. Senen Pangilinan had a close call with Shark Attack’s Bill Limes, losing to him in their second game. Pangilinan secured his victory in the tiebreaker round before Hustler’s Rowel Mariano faced Patrick Taitano.
Slowly but surely, the Hustlers took on a winning spree before falling to Norita and Bernard Kileleman in the doubles round.
The Home Boyz had similar luck against the D’Pirates Team Pirates, winning 5-2. Losing game one, Team Pirates’ Vince C. struck back and crushed Nolan Cultura. He and Frank Palacios were the only victors against the Pirates, who won three singles and both doubles matches.
The Jonny’s IT&E Voyagers and Buddies IT&E Incredibles remain steady behind the Home Boyz, with the former scoring four wins this week and the latter making five. The Voyagers edged the D’Pirates Who-Oahs 4-3, marking victories from Rolly Villanueva, Roman Rodriguez, RJ Mascarinas, and Boyet Sequioco. Villanueva defeated Who-Oah’s Tom Barcinas before joining Sequioco in the doubles round, beating Ray Takai and Joe Villagomez. The Who-Oahs currently rank third in the Obyan division with 32 wins, trailing the Shark Attacks by one point.
Also pairing off were the USSP Fotten Palaus, who played neck and neck with the USSP Turtles. The Fotten Palaus took hits in the first three singles games, losing to Leo Sablan, Nizer Masayos, and Tom Tebuteb. Palau’s Ron Chisato and Mei Rengiil turned the tables around after beating the husband-wife tandem of Ken and Rose Phillips.
Arnel Orbita picked up the pace from there, winning back-to-back doubles matches with John Mongami and Chisato.
Last Tuesday marked the Budweiser league’s 11th week, hosted by the Saipan Billiards Association.
