Hailing from the Agingan Division, the Hustlers finished off with 90 wins and 36 losses for a 71.4 percent win-rate. The Fotten Palaus topped the Obyan Division with 61 wins and 65 losses, lifting them above team D’Pirates Who-Oahs.
Both groups battled it off at Utopia Sports Bar last Tuesday as the Hustlers charged for a 5-2 win. Robert Sanciangco and Jerry Soriano fended off Palau’s Taylor Watanabe and Arnel Orbita in the singles round, followed by another win from Joemer Enriquez. Fotten Palau’s Ron Chisato scored two points after beating Jerry Balarao twice in respective singles and doubles games. The Hustlers garnered two more points from Rowel Mariano and the team of Senen Pangilinan and Joey Lucido.
Voyagers 7, Shark Attack 0
At Jonny’s Bar and Grill, the Jonny’s IT&E Voyagers swept Wild Bills Shark Attack with seven straight wins.
Voyagers’ Rolly Villanueva outran Ben Norita in the first singles game while Jojo Talibong conquered Wild Bills’ Patrick Taitano. With only four players in their team, the Shark Attacks were at a disadvantage. John fought a losing battle in the doubles round and fell to Voyagers’ Rey Pinangay and Ric Villanueva. The Shark Attacks automatically lost two games due to lack of players.
The Voyagers and Buddies IT&E Incredibles are currently tied at second place in the Agingan Division and will play a tiebreaker this weekend. Precise date and time for the match have yet to be determined by Saipan Billiards Association’s Warlee Ellama.
Incredibles 6, Who-Oah 1
The Incredibles challenged the Who-Oahs last Tuesday, winning 6-1 at D’Pirates Sport Bar. The Who-Oahs celebrated their only win from Tero Takai, while the rest of its members fell to Brian Nelvis, Chester Cuento, and Eric Caisip. Cuento moved to the doubles round with Chester Hamoy for another victory over Who-Oahs’ Ed Suzuki and Takai.
Despite their loss, the Who-Oahs stand strong at second place in the Obyan Division with 55 wins. Both the Shark Attacks and VFW ToroKeyRees are locked in third place and are scheduled for a tiebreaker as well. Team D’Pirates Team Pirates rest at fourth place while the Turtles rank fifth.
In the Agingan Division, the Home Boyz ran for third place below the Voyagers and Incredibles.
The SBA’s prestigious Budweiser Cup will start next week, beginning in Jan. 4. Teams will be playing in a single elimination format.
