Hustlers outlast Stars, reach finals

The Island Apparel-Kagman Mobile Station Hustlers rallied with two runs at the top of the 15th to break their endless 5-5 tie.

Stars’ Mart Sablan hit a run-scoring single afterward, sending Dodet Feliciano home. With Ben Lizama, Vince Castro, and Thomas Camacho loading all bases, the Stars pinned their hopes on second baseman Isaiah Lizama.

Lizama drew the third out at first base however, ending the night for the pennant champions.

Catcher Nokki Saralu scored the Hustlers’ first run at the top of the first on an error.

Josh Jones replied with an RBI triple and a run to hand the Stars a 2-1 lead.

The Hustlers thrived on Saralu’s RBI single at the top of the fifth. Saralu scored their fifth run on Jones’ error.

Joaquin Castro replaced Ben Lizama and scored an RBI in the sixth inning. Jones later struck a triple and reached home plate on Eric Tenorio’s sacrifice bat.

Hustlers’ McGarett Duenas struck out six and gave up five runs on nine hits in eight innings. Relief pitcher Jeremy Lizama added five more strikeouts, allowing five hits and two walks.

Josh totaled 15 strikeouts and Dave Jones had six.

The Hustlers scored seven regular season wins and five losses prior to the playoffs while the top-seeded Stars hold an 11-1 record.
