IT&E routs Customs, MBI hands DCCA 1st loss

The Micronesian Brokers Inc., had its share of jubilee after it defeated Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, 80-64.

Bruce Berline towered the offense as he tallied most of his 10 points from follow up shots and Joemar Tumaquip completed fast breaks to pull IT&E away from Customs in the third quarter.

Ryan Sanciangco and Darwin Barbo nailed Customs to 53 points as they took turns in scoring. Sanciangco performed his usual craft—a cross over to the left and lay up along the baseline. He showed no mercy in the final minutes demolishing Customs with two three-pointers to bank a total of 19 points.

Barbo added nine of his 13 points in the final quarter.

Berline who focused on setting the offense by grabbing defensive rebounds scored only four points in the first quarter. It was Tumaquip and Ernie Fernandez who took the scoring task and pounded Customs with 10 points.

Customs’ Jake Maratita, Ryan Sablan and Dennis Reyes hit three-point shots in repeated attempts to come from behind.

MBI 80, DCCA 64

Ivan De Vero gave MBI a good start basketing 11 shots in the first quarter then, with Ryan Cabrera backing him up, stretched the lead in the final quarter against DCCA and handed MBI its third straight win since their debut loss to Commonwealth Health Center.

Badly missing the scoring hands of playing coach, Elias Rangamar and sky walker, Ponce Rasa, DCCA struggled all the way to the final quarter.

With Romeo Iginoef and Ando Benavente having a hard time clamping on MBI’s offense, DCCA bore its worse 21-point deficit in the third quarter. Peter Camacho led DCCA with 14 points before he spent on the bench in the second half of the action.

De Vero led MBI with 25 points and White Capalad added 13 points.
