The IT&E players gained lead in the second quarter where Bruce Berline started off with an attempt for the basket. He was fouled and made one of his free throw shots followed by a two-pointer.
Things started to improve for IT&E from that moment.
Darwin Barbo, Berline, and Robledo Talania focused on the offensive for an 11-point lead.
The Hi-5 defenders tried to stop Barbo from his shooting spree but Edsel Mendoza found an opening to knock a three pointer. His basket gave IT&E the needed momentum.
One of Bacardi’s leading scorers, Kae Bernardo, paced it up by banking a couple of jump shots, with Dave Sablan and Wowie Abuel backing him up.
A series of three-pointers from Sonny Lerio and Sablan pulled off an amazing come back in the fourth quarter, as IT&E was nearly caught off guard.
With a minute left in the game, Barbo made hi two free throws shots and Bernard Aquino added a two-pointer to secure IT&E’s win.
Six Seven Ohs 84, Ol’ Aces 74
The Beck’s Six Seven Ohs closed another game in triumph, winning against the Bud Light Lime Ol’ Aces 84-74.
Both teams came head to head in the early parts of the game. The Six Seven Ohs gained a slight lead over the Aces, thanks to brothers Anthony Diaz and Edward Diaz’s powerful offense.
Anthony started the game with several successful jump shots, piling 10 points in first quarter. Despite the brief tie between the two teams, Edward had a two pointer followed Anthony’s pair of free throws.
Their combination proved useful for the Beck’s offensive.
While Edward stayed near the basket for an easy lay up, Anthony would sneak along the sidelines and steal the ball, marking several undefended shots.
By the second and third quarters, the Ol’ Aces struggled to catch up with the scores. They finally reached a 25-25 tie against the Six Seven Ohs after a basket made by the Aces’ Robert Coldeen Jr.
Unfortunately, Beck’s Edward and Kelvin Fitial sealed the deal after hitting 10 more points apiece shortly before the fourth quarter.
Ol’ Aces’ Taj Van Buren was sent out to the court along with Marvin Rabauliman hoping to turn the tables around, but they were a bit too late.
Diaz kept the heat firing a couple of shots, including a reject-attempt that he avoided from the stretched arms of Van Buren.
