Romeo Verano managed to snatch 8 points whilst teammate Teddy Bugay collared 6 points to open the first quarter of the game and grab the driver’s seat for Jem’s Restaurant. Teammate and George Poquiz reinforced their lead with two jump shots to pocket another four pence to their team.
At the bottom of the quarter, Jem’s Restaurant was clearly leading the way by 4 points against the Ol Aces, 22-18.
Jem’s Restaurant managed to widen the gash during the next quarter. Ed Yalong scored 6 points whilst his teammates fired an array of jump shots and lay ups. Poquiz, Bugay, Romeo Verano each bagged 4 points a piece to keep their 4 point lead from the Ol Aces.
By half time, the score was at 44-40 with Jem’s Restaurant gripping the upper hand of the game.
Both teams entered the second half of the game with one common goal in mind: hand the opponent the upset of the game.
The Ol Aces finally got its act together and plucked the lead from Jem’s Restaurant after Tony Luzama and Ricardo Alejandro each deposited 6 points to their side of the scoreboard. Teammate Ernie Fernandez jumped into the band wagon and nailed another 4 points for the Ol Aces.
At the bottom of the third quarter, the scores were posted up as 68-66 with the Ol Aces gripping the higher deficit of the game.
It all came down to the final ten minutes of the game. The Ol Aces stepped it up one last notch. Eric Atalig connected 4 jump shots for 8 points whilst his teammates Ernie Fernandez and Tony Luzama nailed 6 points a piece to grab hold of and secure the win from the dominant Jem’s Restaurant, 91-86.
