AFTER Roman Reyes Jr. set a new personal state record, his protégé Justin Arriola, who also represented the NMI, placed second in the 90kg junior weight class of the the 2023 USA Powerlifting Holiday Hoist in Meridian, Idaho on Dec. 16, 2023.
The 23-year-old Arriola, who works as a landing gear installer at Boeing, thanked “the Lord above and to the person who introduced me to the game, Roman Reyes Jr., who is also my coach. I would also like to thank my friends and family who supported me along the way.”
In a previous competition, Arriola said he failed to successfully complete the squat portion. Subsequently, he went back to training for the next five months, which led to much better results in Idaho.
