Kagbros’ Zach Babauta takes the contested fadeaway shot during a game against Elite Force in season 2 of the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League at the TSL Sports Complex.
IN the battle between the top two teams in bracket B of the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League, Kagbros outplayed Tan Holdings, 93-60, at the TSL Sports Complex on Tuesday.
Kagbros established control in the early minutes of the opening half thanks to the inside work of JJ Lifoifoi, who scored nine points.
Although Tan Holdings struggled to create space inside the paint, their long-range shots worked well in their favor as they recorded five triples.
But Kagbros retaliated with their own series of shots from beyond the arc led by Ray Babauta with two buckets while John Nekaifes and Jon Limes followed up with one each to maintain a double-digit lead, 49-27.
In the second half, Tan Holdings started to heat up with better offensive finishes orchestrated by Icesac Perez and Christian Bravo who combined for 14 points. But they failed to stop the bleeding on the defensive end as Kagbros continued to deliver at will.
Trey Ogumoro acted as the spark plug draining the first three buckets while Lifoifoi resumed the punishment from within the paint as Nekaifes connected two consecutive triples for an easy win, 93-60.
Kagbros now sit at the top of the food chain with six wins and one loss while Tan Holdings dropped to the no. 2 spot with five wins and two losses.
Yuman vs Unity Trade
In the battle for the no. 3 spot in bracket A, Yuman outlasted Unity Trade in an overtime thriller, 107-96.
It was a seesaw battle throughout both halves of the game.
During the last two minutes of the second half, Unity Trade held an eight-point advantage, but gradually lost touch due to Yuman’s full-court pressure defense. Unity Trade had a couple of chances to seal the deal, but fell short each time which allowed Yuman to even the score, 94-94, forcing overtime.
Riding the momentum into the five-minute extra period, Yuman allowed Unity Trade to score just two points while Yuman’s big man Raymond Atencio delivered six crucial points to aid his team to victory, 107-96.
Yuman is now the no. 3 team in the overall standings while Unity Trade is no. 4. Both have four wins and three losses.
