SIS girls rule 800m distance

THE young ladies of Saipan International School took the spotlight in their respective categories of the 800m distance event during the PSS All School Track & Field (Athletics) SY23-24 time trials at the Oleai Sports Complex on Wednesday.

SIS’ high school team has always been a contender in the running scene, and continues to be the favorite, thanks mostly to Kaithlyn Chavez, who finished first with a time of 2:39.2. Agape Christian School’s Mary Zhu came in second at 2:56 and teammate Sunny Wang was third at 3:06.

In the U14 girls division, SIS also came out on top with Aubrey White crossing the finish line at 3:02.91. Not too far behind was teammate Faith Arriola  at 3:07.95 while ACS’ Kate Xu clocked  3:08.20.

In the U18 boys division, Marianas High School finished first with Cody Shimizu clocking 2:14.31. He slipped past ACS’ Jireh Wang whose finish time was 2:14.50.  MHS’ Pony Tang came in third at 2:21.

In the U14 boys division, FMS’ De’Anthony Aldan bested the competition with seven seconds to spare, clocking 2:31.91 followed by teammate Keeanu Villanueva at 2:37.97, and ACS’ Daniel Yang at 2:41.51.
