IN the battle of the top two teams, Kanoa Football Club routed the Southern United Football Club, 9-0, in the U17 girls division of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League Fall 2023 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Sunday.
Led by Kaithlyn Chavez, Kanoa was in complete control from start to finish. After just four minutes of play, she quickly slipped through the cracks and found the back of the net for the first goal of the match.
Two minutes later, she connected her second goal. With Southern United focused on stopping Chavez, more openings were created, allowing Kanoa’s Mia Abuan to capitalize with back-to-back goals in the 8th and 17th minute marks for 4-0 lead.
Fatigue affected most of the players during the second half while Chavez delivered three consecutive goals for the hat-trick. Teammate Ha Ye Lynn then joined the onslaught with two goals at the 52nd and 54th minute marks en route to a 9-0 victory.
MP United vs Paire
MP United Football Club, for its part, slipped past Paire Football Club, 3-2.
It was all MPU in the opening half with Matty Angeles and Fiona Reagan contributing a goal each at the 11th and 15th minute marks, respectively.
Midway through the second half, PFC suddenly cooked up a rally with Isubakiko Joab and Alana Hayes each scoring a goal at the 43rd and 52nd minute marks to tie the game, 2-2.
But MPU’s continuous pressure eventually caused chaos on PFC’s end, providing Reagan with enough space to fire the game-winning shot at the 57th minute mark.
