KANOA and Shirley’s football clubs bagged separate wins  on Wednesday and Friday to remain the top two teams in the premier division (Tinekcha-Awaal) of the Dove Women’s League Fall 2023 at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

On Friday, KNFC bested MP United Football Club, 5-2.

The action started early for KNFC who played aggressively. With great spacing and quick passes, they eventually broke through the weakside, allowing Aubrey Castro to deliver the first goal at the 7th minute mark.

The pace then slowed down as both teams focused on defense while picking their shots carefully. After hitting the 30-minute mark of the first half, KNFC applied pressure once again with Irish Pagarao and Mia Abuan joining the scoreboard with a goal each to extend the deficit.

This time, MPU were able to retaliate with a goal thanks to Pia Ngewakl who kept their hopes alive at the halftime, 1-3.

There was a back-and-forth battle throughout the second half, but  KNFC managed to control most of the possessions. At the 70th minute mark, KNFC’s Kaithlyn Chavez added a fourth goal to their score, but this was quickly answered by MPU’s Moriah Sablan.

However, Deseha Mendiola’s goal at the 82nd minute mark put the game out of reach, 5-2.

Shirley’s vs NMI U17

Shirley’s Football Club remains at the top of the food chain after a dominant display against NMI U17, 11-0 on Wednesday.

A flurry of goals was unleashed by Shirley’s at the first half with Raven Anderson delivering four of them while teammates Jannah Casarino and Melody Johnson contributed each for a commanding 6-0 lead.

Shirley’s stuck to their strategy throughout the second half with Casarino at the frontline earning a hat-trick with three goals. Teammates Mikayla Lopez and Rizza Relucio then joined the onslaught to silence NMI U17, 11-0.
