Kapileo to play 4th Little League World Series

 

Now 18 years old, Kapileo started in majors division of NMI Little League All Stars team that made it to the Asia-Pacific Regional Tournament in 2001.

In 2003, Kapileo was again selected to be a member of the NMI’s Junior Little League All Stars who made it to the World Series after beating Guam in Asia-Pacific meet.

Consistent to be an over-all player, Kapileo was selected again to the Senior Little League All Stars in 2005 and maintained his performance up the succeeding year when they made it again to Asia-Pacific Regional meet held in Jakarta.

In 2007, he was among those who made it to the World Series and now getting their chance to win this time after their victory over the Philippines in this year’s Asia-Pacific meet two weeks ago.

Kapileo started playing baseball when his older brother, Kelvin, now playing in SML’s Rangers team always brought him along to the games.

His brother who was among the first NMI Little League team to have made it to the Williams Sport in Pennsylvania in 1993, was the one who took him into playing baseball.

Kapileo who was the sixth batting leaders of the regular season with 409 batting average and hit 18 of 44 chances, is one five in the team who are now one notch up and will have their second chance to win this year’s World Series.

This is going to be his fourth chance to play in the World Series.

His co-veterans in the team are Shane Yamada who beat the Philippines in the Asia-Pacific meet and was the RBI leader in Saipan Big Little League’s regular season; Nikki San Nicolas who topped the regular season’s pitching leaders with 1.40 ERA and 29 hits in 35 innings and Jesus Iguel who topped the batting leaders with 452 batting average and was instrumental in their Asia-Pacific victory. The two others are Vincent Sablan Jr., who was the regular season’s second best pitcher with 2.40 ERA and Smith Regis who was also among the regular seasons’ batting leaders with a batting average of 344.
