Kids Coves triumph in playoffs

Both teams battled it out in the Masters Division with Moonlight’s lead scorer Dindo Pablo grasping 25 points for the game. The Kids Coves and Moonlights struck one of their first deadlocks in the first quarter, tying at 22-22.

The game started to favor the Kids Coves, who slowly gained their lead with the help of Rick Brien and Ferdie Dela Torre. Following his lay up in the second quarter, Brien caught the Moonlights offguard with a three-pointer.

Likewise, Pablo led the Moonlights with his barrage of three-pointers, landing three consecutive shots during the final quarter.

Realizing the Moonlights were catching up, Kids Cove’s James Abuy sped up the pace with two undefended jumpers.

Jun Alipio and Bernard Montano also had their share of the basket, adding four more points to the Kids Coves.

A steady offense was all the Kids Coves needed to stay in the lead. Missed shots in the second and third quarter took a toll on the Moonlights, who lost by 93-88.

Another day for Konflikt, Soul Jazz

Unfortunately for the Bayani Soul Jazzes and MAFEA – Ali’i Konflikts, their first playoff match in the Open Division was not completed last Tuesday because of rain.

The Konflikts had already established their dominance through most of the game, boasting a 75-54 lead against the Bayanis. The team’s quick rise in the scores was attributed to Elmer Esdrelon, who successfully landed his three-pointers during the third quarter. George Barbo, White Capalad, and Brandon Talania collected more points with powerful lay ups, getting through the Bayanis’ defense.

Last Tuesday also didn’t seem to favor Bayani’s Lerio Pagarao, who was often blocked in the middle of his lay ups.

The continuation date for both teams will be settled at a later time by the UFO’s league committee.
