Young and so energetic, the second batch of new breed of badminton players proved themselves as early as the elimination round all the way to the final of the one-day tournament.
Joshua Saturno and the youngest Amor Malasarte emerged as the champions defeating Eanah Labuson and Mika Serrano, 21-18, 21-19.
Saturno demonstrated some winning smashes as he went considerably sharp against the opposing pair.
Malasarte who was supposedly too young to be on the court also proved herself an exemption.
At only five, Malasarte managed to retaliate many of the opponent’s attacks, landing the shuttle cock right on difficult spots.
Saturno and Malasarte clinched the final round when they downed Jerome Malasarte and Natalie Hirsbein, 22-19, 22-19 in the semi final round.
Labuson and Serrano on the other hand defeated Nicole Malasarte and Iris Leong, 19-21, 21-19, 21-16 to secure slot in the final match.
The other pairs of this year’s youth badminton batch include Joanie Paraiso/Danielle Pineda;
Ivy Leong/Luisa Marie Camacho; Anniea Saturno/ Gabrielle Coloma; Kyle Gayo/Chekaina Coloma and Ella Serrano/Precious Pascual
The winners received cash prizes and a free membership to NMBA. All the young participants were awarded certificates.
