LAMESA Kusina bagged their third win in season 2 of the Legends Sports Association Invitational Basketball League after powering past Stag, 74-65, at the TSL Sports Complex on Saturday.
Both teams started the opening half with several exchanges.
Lamesa Kusina displayed balanced teamwork with Web Gontar scoring the first two buckets while Paul Flores later took over with six points to hold the lead. For their part, Stag showcased their own series of highlights led by Vincent Lumen, Tim Wesley and Marvin Marchedesch to stay within reach.
Toward the last few minutes, Gontar drained a triple followed by another finish at the rim to put Lamesa Kusina ahead going into halftime, 36-30.
The high-paced action continued in the second half with both teams fighting for control.
This time, the rest of Stag started to pitch in with Christian De Guzman and Anderson Maluto adding extra firepower by attacking the paint for high-percentage shots.
But Lamesa Kusina proved that they had better offense with extended range as Raymond Velasco, Franklin Bongolan, and Jun Hernandez kept the team afloat with a triple each while the rest of the team kept the momentum burning long enough to maintain the safe distance and secure the win, 74-65.
