THE Belau Amateur Softball Association reaffirmed its commitment to the local community on Friday by presenting a $500 donation to Dandan Middle School.

This marks the third consecutive year the association has contributed to the school, specifically targeting the diverse needs of the student body. According to BASA Secretary Elsie Ngewakl, the recurring donation is part of the organization’s ongoing effort to support education and youth development.

“This is the third year BASA has donated $500 to DMS to support students’ needs,” Ngewakl noted.

The donation brought together leaders from both the sports and education sectors: BASA President Leo Bobai, Vice President Mac Masaharu, board member Hector Efraim, Secretary Elsie Ngewakl, and Treasurer Timberley Ngewakl, along with DMS Principal Vince Dela Cruz and Umpire Byron Kaipat.

On the diamond, BASA is gearing up for an action-packed February. The association has officially announced that the masters and women’s division of the 2026 Budweiser BASA Softball League will kick off the new season on Feb. 1.

To ensure a smooth start to the competitive year, a mandatory team managers meeting has been scheduled for Friday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m. at the Beach Road pavilion.

All participating teams are expected to send a representative to review league rules, schedules, and final rosters.
