The Cardinals cruised past the Natives, 15-1, in six innings via the mercy rule.

They established control early, exploding for eight runs in the bottom of the first. After quickly retiring the Natives, the Cardinals went to work. Mike Brownstein opened with a double and was brought home by Nate Camacho for the first RBI. Jerald Cabrera and Brian Camacho added two more RBIs before the lineup batted around. Brownstein and Nate Smith later drove in additional runs, and two more scored before the Natives finally escaped the inning trailing 8-0.

The Natives held the Cardinals scoreless in the second but couldn’t capitalize offensively. In the third, Eli Aughenbaugh delivered a 2-RBI single, and solo runs in the fourth and fifth stretched the lead to 13-0.

BJ Leon Guerrero finally put the Natives on the board in the sixth with an RBI single that scored Isaiah Lizama, but the Cardinals quickly responded with two more runs from Brian Camacho and Keoni Kaipat to end the game early under the mercy rule.

On Monday, the Blue Jays stunned spectators by eliminating the No. 2 seed Athletic A’s, 9-6.
