(UOG) — The UOG Tritons played hard and kept battling back against FairZesh in their Triton Men’s Basketball League game on Monday night, but FairZesh’s pressure eventually proved too much as it came away with a 92-75 win.
The game started off as a close battle. FairZesh got out to a lead in the first period, going up by as many as 10 points early, but UOG came back to tie the game toward the end of the first quarter. FairZesh ended up leading after the first 10 minutes by two points, 17-15.
The second period was much the same story. FairZesh would build a lead of five to seven points, and UOG would come back to tie the game or cut it to one point. FairZesh lost the quarter 22-21 but still led the game by one point, 38-37, at halftime.
But in the second half, UOG could not get its comeback going, and FairZesh kept applying pressure, winning the third period 29-20 to push the Tritons down by 10 points going into the fourth quarter, 67-57.
The fourth quarter was more of the same as FairZesh kept the pressure on and the UOG Tritons could not rally again. FairZesh won the quarter 25-18 as UOG fell, 92-75.
Chris Conner led FairZesh with 23 points, while Maverick Martines and Chad Buteau added 18 and 17 points, respectively. Jordan Madrazo led UOG with 22 points, while Isaac Orlando and Ralph Macaldo added 13 points each.
FairZesh is now 1-1 in the Triton League, while the UOG Tritons fell to 1-2.
