THE Saipan Golf Association kicked off its 2026 season with a display of veteran precision at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort’s East Course, where Ed Manibusan emerged as the standout performer, capturing the prestigious SGA 2025 Ace of Aces title while also clinching the January 2026 Ace of the Month crown on Jan. 18.
The tournament featured a field of 14 elite golfers navigating the challenging layout. Manibusan’s victory marks a strong start to his year, placing him atop the 2026 Ace of the Month standings.
Manibusan carded a steady round, posting a 43 on the front nine before finding his rhythm on the back to shoot 38. His total gross of 81, combined with an 8 handicap, produced a tournament-best net score of 73.
The battle for the remaining podium spots was decided by the narrowest of margins, with the scorecard playoff method used to break multiple ties. Joe Crisostomo claimed first place over Larry Guerrero after both finished with net scores of 74, while Alex Tudela edged Frances Sablan for third after the pair tied at 75 net.
Beyond the leaderboard, several players were recognized during optional contests. Closest-to-the-Pin winners were Joe Crisostomo on Hole No. 4, Ton Tomokane on Hole No. 6, and John Jones on Hole No. 15. In the Longest Drive category, Manibusan topped Hole No. 2, while Crisostomo claimed honors on Hole No. 18.
