MP United Football Club recorded their first win in the B division of the Dove Women’s League Spring 2026 on Sunday night, edging Matansa Football Club 2-1 in a match held at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
The match began evenly, with both teams exchanging possession and trading shots, but neither could find the back of the net in the first 20 minutes.
In the 25th minute, Matansa gained control of possession and worked deep into MP United’s territory. After a few scrambles, Chrishia Leon Guerrero connected on a shot to give MFC a 1-0 lead.
However, MFC’s advantage was short-lived. MP United quickly responded, and in the 36th minute, Riza Lim scored to level the match 1-1.
The second half saw continued back-and-forth action, but neither team could break the deadlock for several minutes. MP United’s persistent pressure eventually wore down MFC’s defense, creating scoring opportunities through long passes and offensive positioning. Mannelyn Cabrera capitalized on an opening in the 53rd minute, putting MP United ahead 2-1.
Despite having time to mount a comeback, MFC could not respond and ultimately fell to MP United.
