(Press Release) — Trench Tech and Trench Warz Promotions are set to elevate combat sports in the Marianas with the launch of the “Ballroom Blitz,” a unique submission grappling experience scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at Hibiscus Hall inside the Crowne Plaza Resort, Saipan.
In what promoters are dubbing as “The Grappler’s Gala,” Ballroom Blitz is expected to attract elite grapplers from across the region, including Asia, spotlighting the continued rise in popularity of submission grappling while positioning Saipan as a destination for high-level international competition. The event blends world-class athleticism with an upscale atmosphere rarely seen in traditional grappling tournaments.
Known for producing striking and professionally staged combat sports events, Trench Tech brings the same glitz, glamour, and premium presentation that fans have come to expect from signature productions such as Ring of Fire and Cage of Fire — this time reimagined for the grappling arts in the vein of its signature submission grappling event Mats on Fire. Set in one of Saipan’s premier resort ballrooms, Ballroom Blitz is designed to appeal to combat sports fans, local audiences, and visiting tourists alike.
“Ballroom Blitz is about redefining how grappling is experienced in the Marianas,” said Cuki Alvarez, president of Trench Warz Promotions. “We’re showcasing elite talent from across the region while presenting the sport in a refined, professional setting that reflects its growth and international appeal. This event is another step forward for combat sports in our islands.”
Alvarez emphasized that the event not only provides a platform for regional athletes but also strengthens Saipan’s reputation as a host for world-class sporting and entertainment experiences.
According to L.J. Castro, marketing director of Trench Warz Promotions, Ballroom Blitz is built around the spectator experience as much as the competition itself.
“This is not your typical grappling event,” Castro said. “From the ballroom setting and formal ambiance to the lighting, pacing, and overall production, Ballroom Blitz is designed to feel immersive and upscale. We want fans to feel like they’re attending a premium event — something memorable, whether you’re a lifelong grappling fan or someone experiencing the sport for the first time.”
Admission is priced at $75 per person, inclusive with event entry and a buffet-style dinner, allowing guests to enjoy a full dining and entertainment experience throughout the evening. Attendees are encouraged to dress the part, with formal, semi-formal, or island formal attire serving as the appropriate dress code for the night. Interested spectators should be aware that if you plan on getting tickets at the door, there’s a $5 additional charge.
Trench Warz Promotions also announced that it is actively seeking event sponsors, with tiered sponsorship packages available for businesses and organizations interested in partnering with Ballroom Blitz.
