MADFLEX and Prospects 1 shared the spotlight on Saturday afternoon as they ended the three-day Matty D’s 3×3 Youth Tournament as champions in their respective divisions at the Ada gym.

In the U16 title game, Madflex showcased their unmatched skills by besting the Rollers 2, 13-4.

Madflex, which consisted of Jezpher Navarro, Jonne Navarro, Onick Ragbonshe, and Christian Lucero, thrived on teamwork as they played to their strengths.

Lucero led the onslaught by using his power and height to finish at the rim with ease. With the help of Jonne Navarro’s three-point shots and cleanup from Jezpher Navarro and Rogabonshe, the team quickly established a 10-point lead.

The Rollers 2 started to gain confidence later in the game, but only one of their players was able to find the bottom of the net, and they soon had to wave the white flag as Madflex clinched the win, 13-4.

1 vs 4

In the U13 division, Prospects 1 defeated their sibling team, Prospects 4, 18-10.

Prospects 1 — Leon Duenas, David Apatang, Liam Wilson and Jairus Pangilinan — were unstoppable on the offensive end.

Duenas dominated the offensive lane with no-look passes and finishes with either hand as he gave Prospects 1 a comfortable lead.

Prospects 4 managed to put up a fight and kept their opponents on their toes, but Prospects 1 still came out victorious, 18-10.

“This tournament is for the youth. Supposedly, it was a Christmas tournament but we decided to go with this 3×3 tournament instead,” said host Matt Duenas. “I chose the U13 and U16 age groups because I wanted to showcase the talents of the youth and keep them away from all the bad things happening around.”

He said a total of 104 players competed.

“It was a great turnout, and I would like to thank the kids for making this happen along with Bridge Capital, Priority Care, Saipan Ice & Water, and Ada gym,” Duenas said.
