Fernandez’ two penalty shots and Mallari’s two-pointer helped the Magic protect their lead during the first quarter.
VCC had a series of turnovers in the second quarter giving the Magic the chance to pull away as Bernadine Aquino poured three two-pointers.
Fernandez sizzled with six points and Melvin Capalad chipped five to help the Magic stretch the lead in the third quarter.
Mallari added six more points in the fourth, Capalad delivered four and the Magic showed no mercy as they went on to finish off VCC, 83-48.
Taracatac led VCC as he scored 13 points in a losing attempt.
Vipers 73, Brothers 62
Angelo Fernando saw less action in the first half then, surged to nine points in the fourth quarter leading the Vipers to beat the Brothers, 73-62.
Reyes scored six points, Oscar Sagucio, Emerson Bautista and Arnold Capuli added two points apiece to set the lead in the first quarter.
Ryan Odicta and Nick Swaim widened the gap with eight and five points respectively in the second quarter.
The blow out continued as Fernando made his appearance in the court firing four markers in the third quarter.
The Brothers’ defense remained weak as the game moved to the fourth quarter where Sagucio and Capuli sank five and six points respectively pull the Vipers away.
Jeff Pagarao led the Brothers with his 19 points.
