Manacop, Omechelang win March roll-offs

Manacop took on a 14-man pool in the men’s division, taking first place with 803 pinfalls on Sunday’s roll-off. He averaged 200.75 per game, beating Raphael Zapanta’s 782 mark. Manacop tallied 196 pinfalls in game one, falling behind Joe Sto. Domingo (229) and Ronald Batac (221). He improved with 221 pins in game two but was topped by Percy Omechelang (238), who scored the highest in one game.

Manacop capped off with 214 and 172 in games three and four, respectively. Zapanta rallied to second place, averaging 195.5 and posting his best score – 214 pinfalls – in game two. He came short of Manacop by four pins in game one, and gathered 376 from games three and four. Korean bowler Jae Yong Kim entered the men’s top three with a 776 total, averaging 194 pins per game (201, 228, 179, and 168 in games one to four).

Omechelang, who settled for second place last month, ensured her win with 672 pinfalls. Linda Yarobwemal came next at 661, followed by Yho Villavicencio’s 659. Omechelang bested her fellow female bowlers with 189 pinfalls in game one, and again in game four with 183. Yarobwemal started off with 178 but declined by 10 pins in game two. She peaked at game three with 186 pinfalls and ended slow with 129 in game four. Villavicencio scored 176, 165, 159, and 159 to beat Lala Taitano for third place.

Manacop earned $75 for his game-winning performance. Zapanta and Kim won $40 and $20, respectively. Omechelang received $60, Yarobwemal earned $30, and Villavicencio won $15.

Both Manacop and Omechelang now join this year’s list of monthly winners, which includes February’s Robert Talavera and Ron Cal and January’s Zapanta and Villavicencio.
