Manibusan is 2023 SGA Ace of Aces

EDWARD Manibusan claimed the coveted 2023 Ace of Aces title of the Saipan Golf Association at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort east course on Dec. 17, 2023.

Manibusan, who is also the CNMI’s attorney general, had a stellar performance throughout the day.

The front nine was the tougher portion of the course with Manibusan scoring a gross of 41. But he adjusted his game accordingly and completed the back nine with a gross of 36 for an accumulated gross score of 77.

With a handicap of 9, his net score of 68 was more than enough to secure the top spot.

Nick Sablan came in second after besting Ray Salas and John Matsumoto in a three-way tiebreaker. All three had a net score of 72.

Sablan shot 36 on the front and 43 on the back nine for a gross total of 79. Salas shot 44 on the front and 48 on the back for gross total of 92 while Matsumoto shot 51 on the front and 49 on the back for a gross total of 100.

January Ace

On Jan. 21, Larry Deleon Guerrero bagged the SGA January Ace title with a net score of 65.

He shot 45 on the front and 39 on the back for a gross total of 82. With a handicap of 17, his net score was 65.

Joe Sablan finished second with a net score of 69 while Alex Tudela settled for third with a net score of 70.

February Ace

Alex Tudela notched the February Ace title with a net score of 71 at the Kingfisher Golf Links on February 11.

Tudela shot 40 on the front nine and 44 on the back nine for a gross total of 84. Aided by a handicap of 13, he secured the title with a net score of 71.

In second place was Frances Sablan with a net score of 72 while Edward Manibusan bested Larry Deleon Guerrero in a scorecard playoff to finish third. Both had a net score of 73.
