The Marianas Wireless turned the tables around during the fourth quarter, stealing the Island Apparels’ lead and finishing the game by 97-94. The Marianas Wireless’ successful comeback was attributed to its impressive offensive brought by Leo Galarse and Angelo Hernaez, who each shot for 10 points in the final quarter. The Island Apparels nearly won the game after taking the lead in first, second, and third quarters. Island Apparel’s Manuel Matagolai landed several three-pointers early in the match, jumping his team a few points ahead of the Marianas Wireless.
With a little more effort, Galarse generated his own set of three-pointers in the late game. Galarse tied with Matagolai in the individual scores, where both players earned a total of 31 points. Hernaez came next with 29, followed by Island Apparel’s Jessie Mina, who scored 25.
Cavite 106, Mobil 102
The SIP – Mobils were devastated after losing to the Cavites by 106-102 during last Thursday’s second game of the 8th UFO Inter-Organizational Basketball League.
The Mobils dominated the court through most of the match – only to have their victory stolen by the Cavites during the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
James Villacrusis and Francis Rebuyon led the Cavites’ offensive in the final quarter, with both players landing 10 points. John Artates provided great support, making six more points, along with William Opone, who made five.
Turnovers proved critical for the Cavites. Easy steals gave Villacrusis and Rebuyon spare time to shoot a couple three-pointers.
The Cavites had a slow start in the first quarter, where they trailed the Mobils by 10 points. They slowly recuperated in the second and third quarter, thanks to the work of JR Barrios and Villacrusis.
Villacrusis eventually led the game with 25 points. Barrios came second with 24 points.
