Matansa and Shirley’s players extend in a fight for the possession during an intermediate division game of the Dove Women’s League Fall 2023 Tuesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

MATANSA Football Club stood on top of the leaderboard in the Flores-PeéLuwal (Intermediate Division) of the Dove Women’s League Fall 2023 after defeating Shirley’s Football Club, 4-1, on Tuesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

Matansa were relentless on both ends of the field. Defensively, they barely gave Shirley’s room to breathe, turning each successful stop into shot opportunities.

After five minutes of play, Matansa’s efforts were rewarded with Yuri Fukushi connecting the first goal of the match.

Five minutes later, teammate Jenna Tenorio joined the highlight reel with a goal of her own to extend their lead, 2-0.

Matansa continued to control the pace throughout the second half as Pinyarat Shankweiler connected the third goal for her team at the 33rd minute mark.

But Shirley’s never waved the white flag and managed to withstand all incoming attacks in the next 15 minutes.

At the 50th minute mark, Shirley’s Amy Cabrera finally broke the silence with a solo goal. However, it was quickly answered by Matansa’s Mikaela Duenas two minutes later to seal the deal, 4-1.
