(Run Saipan) — The Force is strong once again in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands as runners and Star Wars enthusiasts prepare to gather for the fourth annual Star Wars Day Run/Walk, hosted by Run Saipan. Taking place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at American Memorial Park, the event promises an exhilarating experience for participants of all ages.
In a galaxy not so far away, this year’s Star Wars Day Run/Walk continues the tradition of blending fitness with fandom, inviting runners and walkers to embrace their inner Jedi or Sith as they traverse the scenic sites of Saipan. With a free one-mile event tailored for children aged 14 and under, as well as a 5K open to all ages, there’s something for Padawans and seasoned Jedi Masters alike.
One of the highlights of this year’s event is the opportunity for participants to choose their allegiance with specially curated swag packages. Embrace the dark side with a Storm Trooper hoodie or proudly display your Rebel Alliance spirit with the Medal of Bravery, inspired by the heroic acts of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker in the epic saga’s first installment. Run Saipan medals will be awarded to the top runners in each event and prizes are available for best Star Wars Themed Costumes.
“The Star Wars Day Run/Walk has become a tradition in the CNMI, bringing together fans of all ages to celebrate their love for the iconic franchise while promoting health and wellness,” said Ron Snyder, secretary/treasurer of Run Saipan. “We’re thrilled to continue this tradition and offer participants an unforgettable experience filled with fun, fitness, and the Force. We understand that this is the final day of Elementary Track and Field but we are hoping that we can provide a great event to those who did not secure a spot in the championship and a chance to warm up with a run/walk for those who are racing later in the day.”
This year’s event follows the success of the 2023 Revenge of the Sixth race, further solidifying the Star Wars Day Run/Walk as a staple in the CNMI’s event calendar. This is the Way!
