TWO of Marianas High School teams lead in two of the three brackets after completing the first week of the NMBF-PSS Interscholastic Badminton League’s co-ed high school division at the Ada gym on Saturday.

In Bracket 2, MHS 2 is number one with nine points.

MHS 2 consists of Isa Nishitani, Nichole Llaga, Emma Quan, Genelyn Lansangan, Darren Tabora, Jan Dumagan, Justin Andrei Gragasin and Elijah Umali. They nearly recorded a flawless performance as they swept Kagman High School 2 in all five events — men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles. But against Saipan International School 2, they were defeated in the men’s singles event.

Saipan Southern High School 2 is in overall second place. They faced  Agape Christian School 1 and SIS 2 and lost the men’s singles event while winning the remaining four matches to earn eight points.

SIS 2 is in third place with two points while Agape Christian School 1 is third with a point. KHS 2 is scoreless.

MHS 3 stands tall in bracket 3  with eight points.

 MHS 3 swept Rota in all five events, but suffered two losses against Grace Christian Academy 1 in the men’s double and mixed doubles while winning the other three events.

In second place is GCA 1 with five points; KHS 1 is third with four points; SIS 1 is fourth with two points; and Rota is fifth with one point.
