In game two, the Kingz edged out the Krowners in three sets, 33-26. That put the Kingz in second place with four wins and one loss. Krowners’ Jason Limes was the heavy hitter with two aces, one kee, and one goal for nine points. The Krowners, now holding a 3-2 record, are tied for third place with the Chiefs.
Meanwhile, the Underdogs almost defeated the Chiefs. The former came from behind in the first two sets, winning 15-14 and 15-8 to take the lead. The Chiefs needed to win the last set with a nine-point margin to recover. If the Chiefs won the set with less than a nine-point margin, the game may have gone into overtime with the Underdogs having the advantage.
In Rocball, a team that has outscored their opponents in game points but lost the last set needs to claim one overtime set to win the game. The team that won the last set but scored less game points would need to win two overtime sets. To win an overtime set, players must score seven points or a goal – whichever comes first. Because of this rule, overtime sets are unpredictable.
Teams Fly High and Krowners will start the semifinals today. The Chiefs and Kingz will start their best-of-three series tomorrow. Rocball games will be played every day at lunch time (12:45 p.m.) until the top two teams emerge. From there, both groups will play a best-of-five championship series that will start next week or as soon as the semifinals are over.
