MHS’ MD Islam takes the fadeaway jump shot during a boys high school division game of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League SY23-24 at the MHS gym.
MARIANAS High School remains undefeated in the boys high school division of the IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League SY23-24 after earning a blowout victory over Saipan International School, 61-20, at the Ada gym on Friday.
MHS, which bagged its fifth consecutive win, was unmatched in skill, quickly establishing dominance in the opening half of the game.
Defensively, they were impenetrable and allowed SIS to score five team points only. Offensively, MHS excelled with Marl Balignasay and Charlz Sanchez combining for 12 points while teammate Webb Alano connected a pair of triples to stretch the deficit, 29-5, going into halftime.
SIS returned to the second half with more confidence. They scored 15 points, six of which were delivered by Omari Joab, but they could not prevent MHS from racking up points.
MHS’ Sean Licayan and Balignasay kept the momentum burning with five points apiece while the rest of the team contributed their fair share off the bench to seal the deal, 61-20.
SSHS vs Agape
Like MHS, Saipan Southern High School continued to improve their record by collecting their fifth win after slipping past Agape Christian School, 46-44.
