During NMSA’s monthly meeting on Thursday at the Ada Gym, White withdrew his nomination before the election of a new board.

“Thank you for putting your trust in me in the last 16 years,” he told the board members.

Under his presidency, NMSA implemented notable sports programs, including a fundraising lottery to finance the participation of local athletes in off-island events, and to provide them with monetary incentives.

Under White’s administration, NMSA assumed responsibility for the maintenance of the Oleai Sports Complex; Saipan, moreover, won the hosting rights for the 2021 Pacific Mini Games.

Jeff Race of the Northern Mariana Islands Tennis Association thanked White’s service for the last 16 years and for the sports projects that he successfully initiated.

The newly elected NMSA board members are James Lee, Justin Andrew, Valerie Hofschneider, Lauri Peterka, Jerry Tan, Ray Tebuteb and John Hirsh. They will serve a two-year term.
