Team Mobil, struggling in the start of the season, snatched their second win to crawl up the standings while the Rebels bid adieu to their three-game streak.
The Rebels showed signs of improvement 1:34 in the final period after shrinking a 14-point deficit.
Jun Estolas however, forced two turnovers and — after a steal from Angelo Fernando — blasted a three-pointer to hand Mobil a 76-66 lead. He mustered 11 of Mobil’s last 21 points.
The Rebels outran them, 27-21 in the end of the second half but came short on possession. Trevor Ogumoro, who garnered 11 from the first half, led the team on a 12-point rally alongside Rodney Sacramento.
Estolas dismantled the Rebels with smooth passes and open shots and piled 12 points in the third quarter. Double digit scorers Gyles Ruluked and Angelo Fernando tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively. Larry Sharry earned eight while Juan Maratita, Leo Factor, and De Guzman scored six apiece.
The Rebels — who spent most of the game trailing their foes — couldn’t eke out a solid defense against Estolas and Ruluked.
Ruluked squeezed in three baskets and Factor tipped in a layup to keep the Rebels at bay in the closing four minutes.
