Moonlight, Bulls prevail in Masters caging

During the third game, Jonny Malicden scored 27 points to help the Brabu Bulls take the lead in the second period to beat Team Twelve, 85-73.

In the game between Moonlight and Team Four, Tom Diaz of Moonlight bombarded Team Four from outside the rainbow line. His 12 points were from four three-pointers before he passed the outside shooting task to George Masga who finished with a total of 25 points.

Team Four though ended the first quarter with a slim lead with Roy Alcantara and Dennis Pacheco firing two-pointers in the last minute of the said period.

Masga blasted from behind the arc twice in the second quarter to score 13 of his total points while Ray Takai added four of his seven points and Moonlight rallied to an eight-point lead at the end of the first half.

They also put clamps on Team Four’s offense as Armando Anasan delivered five of his total points to keep the lead in the third quarter.

Leo Canido and Dennis Pacheco both completed fast breaks to keep pace with Moonlight.  They were already closing in during the fourth quarter when Anasan streaked and Masga collected fouls during his two successful jump shots, and Moonlight ended the game enjoying a seven-point lead.

Brabu Bulls 85, Team Twelve 73

Jonny Malicden, Lilio Tiples and Jun Miday combined 15 points for the Brabu Bulls in the second quarter trying to make it up from the absence their power tower, Richard Brostrom, then, took the lead which they kept the grip all the way to the final buzzer.

With Felix Palacios and Tony Luzama controlling the offense, Team Twelve secured the lead in the first quarter. Mike White, without jumping too much at the center spot grabbed most defensive rebounds to bring Team Twelve back to the offensives.

However, their offense started to slacken as Brabu Bulls strengthened their defense, as well resulting to only 11 points in the second quarter.

Receiving the ball from White after every Brabu Bull’s missed shots, Tony Luzama and Nilo De Belen surged to nine and seven points respectively in the third quarter to close in again.

But Jack Palacios, Tiples and Malicden sizzled in this period, too, to stretch the lead again. Tiples picked up fouls and made three of his free-throw shots.

Malicden added eight more points in the fourth quarter to wrap up Brabu Bull’s victory.

Luzama and Palacios led Team Twelve finishing 26 and 22 points apiece.
