Morales led the short-handed GEC in putting up the lead firing eight markers in the first quarter. He continued the surge in the second period scoring nine including three penalty shots.
Ed Yalong and Aquino chipped in seven and eight points at this period to stay in front even as the Contractors rallied to cut the lead down to three points with Dexter Tenorio and Darwin Gonzales leading the Contractors’ scoring spree.
GEC tightened their defense in the third quarter allowing only Resit Ancheta to keep charging the basket, although Raymond Angeles went lucky this time hitting a three-pointer.
The Contractors also put clamps on GEC’s offense curbing their score in the third quarter to 12 points, 10 points of which were fired by Morales.
Alex Ocampo, Ren Francisco and Bernard Yalong picked up were Morales left off delivering a total of 21 points to stretch the lead again in the fourth quarter and GEC never trailed to claim their third victory.
Tenorio and Gonzales were the highest scorers of the Contractors firing 18 and 16 points respectively in a losing attempt to catch up.
Strikers 65, Managaha 50
James Camacho dominated the offense in the first quarter handing the Strikers a three-point lead over Managaha to help secure their 65-50 win.
Camacho scored 14 of his 25 points as he kept the heat through out the first period.
Despite a brief appearance, JB Banayat added nine points as he helped Camacho control the offense in the second quarter, hitting six of his total points.
Manny Basa scored seven points to help the Strikers maintain the lead as Camacho kept his adrenaline surge to widen the gap in the fourth quarter and the Strikers never looked back.
Roy Domingo led Managaha’s scoring hands scoring 11 points. Arnel Banzagale and Carl Samson chipped in 10 points apiece.
