MP United Football Club remains unscathed in the U14 boys division of the 2024 TakeCare Youth Soccer League after drawing against Kanoa Football Club 1, 2-2, at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville on Saturday.
After countless exchanges, Kanoa FC 1 took control of the possession in the later part of the first half, and worked their way inside enemy territory where Aldric Antonio connected the first goal of the day for a 1-0 lead.
But MPU’s Taiga Namai-Scoggins saw an opening and found the back of the net to tie the score, 1-1.
The second half was intense as both teams fought hard for control.
At the 38th minute mark, KNFC 1 managed to regain the upper hand with Eamon Tang finding the loose ball and slipping the shot past the goalie, 2-1.
KNFC 1 seemed to have the win in the bag, but MPU’s will to survive was evident as they applied continuous pressure that eventually allowed Namai-Scoggins to deliver a goal at the 45th minute mark to tie the game once again, 2-2.
Since neither team was able to score the game-winning goal, they settled for a draw.
Other games
Shirley’s Football Club slipped past Paire Football Club, 2-1, thanks to Izaiah Jude Haro who scored the first goal at the 29th minute mark, and Andrei Tenorio, who secured the win at the 35th.
Matansa Football Club, for their part, blanked Kanoa Football Club 2, 3-0. Eleazir Mettao scored two goals at the 11th and 36th minute marks while Ali Santos added another at the 47th.
