Nearly 30 participants who signed for the 250 m, 500 m, 1000 m, and 1,500 m open – ocean swim challenge at the Koror side of the bridge early morning of 2nd October. However plenty who joined, it was the National swim team that stole the show for the event as young Liam Bornovski, Maria Gibbons, UB Misech, Jam Domingo, Ayana Rengiil, and Xyrus Salii finished strong on their respective categories to win first place.
Liam Bornovski clocked in at 24 minutes and seven seconds to capture first place for the 1,500 meter swim male division, while Maria Gibbons seized first place on the women’s after she crossed the end line with 25 minutes and 2 seconds on the same course.
Other finishers for males and females; Bill Ridpath’s 26:16 for 2nd place, Tino Faatuuala’s 28:32 for third, Yuri Ito 32:26, Masayuki Takashima 36:59 settled for third and fourth, respectively for male division. Female division; Osisang Chilton’s 25:51 for 2nd place, Antja Flowers’ 28:13 for 3rd place, Marica Otto’s 36:34 fourth spot, Judy Otto 41:48 for fifth spot.
In other distance race, junior national swim team member Jam Domingo ruled the 1000 meter course for male division with a time of 15:08 where UB Misech came in also first with a time of 20:11 for the female division of the same distance.
Further closers of the different categories of the race were, 1000m distance; Olai Kumangai 2nd place (26:36); 500m male; Xyrus Salii 1st place (8:46), Kaito Fuji 2nd place (10:30), Jay Jay Sidoi 3rd place (13:24); 500m female; Ayana Rengiil 1st place (10:26), Sasha Foster 2nd place (11:19), Jadamarie Rabauliman 3rd place (11:40), marley Rabauliman 4th place (11:44), Caroline Mills 5th place (11:46). 250m distance under 13 years old, Sim Edward 1st place (7:00), Geoveline Ngirutang 2nd place (7:07), Ishbel Dunsmore 3rd place (9:13), Ikelau Misech 4th place (9:24).
