Football (Soccer) is still relatively new in Saipan, and NMIFA (Northern Mariana Islands Football Association) is still in its infancy having been incepted in August of 2005.
This association has grown tremendously within the last five years since its beginning. Marianas Variety learned last week that during the 6th East Asian Football Federation Competition committee meeting was held in Tokyo, Japan on March 29, 2010, it was decided that the captioned tournament would be held In Guam from August 1-5, 2010.
EAFF requests that all teams competing in this tournament arrive on July 30, 2010 and depart on August 6, 2010.
Variety also learned that coaches have been training our U15 (under 15 years old) National Team players to participate at the EAFF (East Asian Football Federation) U15 Youth Tournament at the Leo Palace Resort in Guam. On Sunday, August 01, 2010 at 10 AM much of the CNMI will see the U15’s talent as they compete against the Chinese Taipei’s team, the opening game of the day. On Monday August 2, 2010 they will put their wits to the test against Team DPR Korea.
