The NMASA’s board of regents consists of President Michael White, Baseball Federation’s Rose Igitol (lone female board member) and Tony Rogolifoi, Basketball Federation’s Elias Rangamar, Canoe Federation’s Gil Birnbrich, Tennis Federation’s Jeff Race, Golf Federation’s Jess Wabol and Jordon Kosam, and Football Federation’s Edward Salas.
During last week’s meeting, NMASA members were asked to make nominations for the election. The rules for voting were one rule per sport federation and only sports federations may vote.
There were other people nominated for the open board member seats. But in the end it was strongly agreed upon that the current board members be kept for another serving term.
“Please think about promoting [more] women [as board members]” said President Michael White. He also expressed his feelings about wanting to see more female board members in the future to serve the sporting world. The board is expected to meet sometime this week to elect its officers.
On the other hand, the opportunity for an all expense paid trip to Shinzen, China for the University Games which will run from August 12-23 of this year for two athletes and one Coach to represent the CNMI is still up for grabs.
President Michael White would like to remind all the sports federations to turn in their nominations before the deadline. The two athletes must be at least 17 years old and must be enrolled in school.
The Tan Siu Lin Foundation will be awarding medals to the top student athletes from September to December today at 4 pm at the TSL Plaza in Garapan.
Coaches are being reminded to make sure the awardees in their respective sports federations to be their on time and that their attendance is a must to receive their medals.
