But in the end, NMC prevailed over Autonomous, 88-77, on Friday night’s game in the Inter-government/Business Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
Autonomous claimed the first quarter of the match, but NMC came back with a vengeance, reversing the situation in their favor.
NMC scored 48 versus Autonomous’ 34 points.
NMC maintained its strong posture during the succeeding quarters, scoring 70 over Autonomous’ 49 points.
During the fourth quarter, it seemed Autonomous would catch up, but it fell short due to miscued ball passes and turnovers.
In terms of team fouls, Autonomous was very sparing unlike NMC.
Despite its poor performance in the foul list, NMC made it up with its strong offense and tight defense.
Mark Wallace of NMC was determined to bring the team a step closer to the playoffs, firing 24 points.
He made three 3-point baskets.
Joe Tumaquip, Jerry Diaz, and Mel Manibusan – the NMC trio, were likewise a huge stumbling block for Autonomous in both offense and defense that Autonomous had a hard time shooting at the basket.
Autonomous’ Ponce Rasa tallied a better score than Wallace with his 26 points, but Rasa, and the rest of the Autonomous squad could not contain the damage that Wallace brought to them inside and outside the zone.
NMC now carries a 2-0 win-lose card, whereas Autonomous waves a 1-0 win-lose ticket.
