TEAM Marianas lost to Palau in their debut match in the women’s indoor volleyball competition of the 2025 Pacific Mini Games in Koror, Palau on Monday.

As of press time, the official results had not yet been posted, but it was shared that Palau defeated Team Marianas two sets to one.

In an interview with Variety prior to the start of the games, Team Marianas volleyball coach Nakashima said he was looking forward to the tournament. However, he added, “It’s our first time to participate, so I’m pretty sure it will be a tough challenge.” That statement proved true, as Palau handed them their first loss.

Aside from the competition, the opening ceremony was remarkable, Nakashima said. “It was a beautiful experience. The most memorable part was seeing the different countries [and islands] all in one place,” Nakashima said.
