THE NMI’s U12 Baseball Team has yet to taste victory in the 2024 World Baseball Softball Confederation U12 Baseball Qualifying Tournament on Guam.
They currently hold a win/loss record of 0-4.
Team NMI encountered tough competition right from the get-go, falling to Australia 26-1 in four innings. The NMI scored their only run in the opening inning.
After that reality check, Team NMI faced the home team, Guam.
Guam came out swinging, accumulating six runs by the top of the fourth inning. The NMI answered with three runs in the bottom half but could not stop the bleeding as Guam scored four more runs while the NMI could slip in only one more run before accepting defeat, 4-10.
Racking in RBIs for the NMI were Dylan Barcinas, Juan Damian, and Elijah Babauta.
The NMI then faced Australia once again and suffered their third defeat, 6-19.
The NMI scored three runs in the top of the second, one run in the third, and two in the fourth. However, Australia still played as the aggressor as they finished strong with eight runs in the third and seven more in the fourth to seal the deal.
The NMI’s RBI leaders were Dylan Barcinas, Elijah Babauta, and Lennox Sablan.
The NMI’s fourth game — their second against Guam — was their best performance so far as they nearly pulled an upset.
Both teams started off as equals with two runs each. The NMI then took the lead with four runs in the top of the second, but Guam eventually caught up in the next three innings to secure the win, 15-11.
The NMI’s Dylan Barcinas and Eiljah Babauta led the RBI list with two each while Liam Sablan, Nathan Nekai, Denzel Kaipat, and Roque Camacho Jr. had one each.
