NMIFA sends two reps for GFA’s football training

The purpose of the course is to train coaches, parents and volunteers for the 12 and under competitions. The training consists of classroom work and field work and will focus on field management, skill and training development, and tournament/festival organization.

The main objective of the FIFA Grassroots Program is to bring the game to the people, and the best way to attract future football players is to offer them football in their own environment. Participants are welcome irrespective of gender, size, shape, faith, and ethnicity.

The FIFA staff will be on-island to conduct the course and certificates will be given to all participants. The Guam organization originally asked Saipan to send only one person but that changed a couple of days later as they asked for one more person for a total of two participants.

From an email kindly sent to the Variety yesterday, there are three main components in FIFA’s Grassroots Program:

a) Courses for “coach  and educators” (parents, school teachers, coaches)

b) Assistance in the organization of festivals/tournaments

c) Teaching material and equipment

The specific requirements and particularities of each age group will be taken into account.

The tournaments will allow schools, communities and regions (depending on the country in question) in the territory of the member association to play against each other, while the festivals will be one day events designed to introduce the widest range of children possible to football through a range of different activities.

The quality that NMIFA used to select its representatives were: must be interested in coaching and willing to teach/share the program with other coaches, parents and volunteers in your organization.

GFA organization has also graciously accommodated Del Rosario and Angeles in their facility.
