NMI’s first skate challenge set for Saturday

Isk8 president Johanna Arellano in an email said that finally, they were able to organize the event with the help of IT&E, Boarderline, Monster, Gatorade, Triple J Wholesale, Duty Free Shop and Pacific Island Club.

The skate competition will be from 12 noon to 6 p.m., and the registration starts at 12 noon.

Isk8 vice-president Dan Westphal the competition will start with game called S-K-A-T-E with the participants expected to do some trick. If the next skater fails to copy the feat, he or she will get a letter from the word SKATE.

The participants will be grouped in three—10-years-and-under, 11 to 15 age group and 16-and-up.

Westphal anticipates participants will be demonstrating “old school” skating styles.

However, free-style competition will be followed in which each age group will be given a few minutes to show off their tricks in order to qualify for the second round.

The competitors, Westphal added, will have to use the entire park to impress the judges and win.

There will also be a “best trick” challenge prior to the second round of freestyle competition.

Those who will make it in the second round will move to the grand final.

Compliments of IT&E, participants will bring home event T-shirts, and awesome prizes from Boarderline. Participants will also get drinks from Monster and Gatorade, and hotdogs from Triple J Wholesale.

Prizes also include water park passes from PIC.
