Northern Passage is for everyone

A new mountain bike race to hit Saipan, the Northern Passage, organizer Brad Sand said will have three courses—full course, sport course and rookie course, so everyone will have the chance to saddle up and win medals, cash prizes and raffle prizes that include a trek mountain bike from Michelob Ultra.

The race will start and finish at upper terrace parking lot of the Palms Resort Saipan in San Roque.

Registration starts at 6 a.m., and race starts at 7. Registration fee is $20 and includes T-Shirt, a light breakfast and all-day pass to the Palms Resort pool and fitness facilities.

Experienced riders, Sand said will be at the front of the pack to start and will pull ahead of the on the first climb.

Medals will go to the top three finishers of each division but the biggest prizes go to the full course winners.

First place winner for male and female in the full course are one night stay at Palms plus breakfast for two, medal and $100 cash. Second placers will get 90-day membership to Palms, medal and third place winner will get dinner for two at Palms and medal.

The winners will also be placed on the perpetual trophy, which will be displayed year-round at the Palms Resort Saipan along with photos of the top three finishers on the medal stand.

Sport course and rookie course winners will also receive medals, as everyone is eligible for any of the raffle prizes.

The growing list of sponsors includes the Palms Resort Saipan, IT&E, XTERRA Saipan Championship and Tagaman Triathlon, Saipan Bike Pro, Michelob Ultra, Brabu Pharmacy (your home for Accelerade and Accel Gel), Digital Motion, and Konflict Clothing.
