NYBA President Joe Diaz said although of the NYBA teams pulled out so that the players can prepare for the Rotary basketball tournament, the rest of the teams want to finish what they have started last April.
The NYBA caging with eighth teams from the northern villages was already in its eighth game when it was temporarily deferred to give way for the renovation of the Garapan Basketball Court.
The renovation was completed last month but the NYBA still have to wait until all the lights are installed.
Diaz said most teams in the NYBA want to participate in Rotary caging but they can not just abandon the annual league that they had been doing for years.
In fact, the reason they wanted to finish the league is their desire to play in Rotary Club tournament.
Since the Rotary caging is now coming up and is likely to have week days schedules, all they have to do, Diaz said is come up with weekend games, most probably Saturday.
“This is to give the players the time to play in Rotary caging and at the same time finishing our own league,” Diaz said.
Besides, he said they can only have two months to finish the tournament.
Five teams are still waiting for the NYBA caging to move on. They are Rollers 1, Rollers 2 Contenders, Kagman Sonics, G-Stars.
Diaz added that since lights in Garapan Basketball facility have not yet been installed, said they will hold the games from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
