Veteran teams joining SML Fall League again

SML President Tony Rogolifoi said of coaches of three who attended yesterday’s meeting confirmed they will participate in this year’s Fall League for the players 25 years old and under.

Rogolifoi said majority of these teams are student so it is likely that will hold the games at day time. It could be better this way he said since power outages oftentimes stall the games at night.

The only concern left is that the school year is opening next month, so many of the players may find hard to spend time when the classes start.

The Fall League is expected to continue until January, so putting up a schedule will be the agenda of next meeting on Thursday next week.

The last Fall League held was in 2006 when Pirates when the championship.

SML failed to hold last year’s Fall League due to other important sport events.

Rogolifoi said Fall League is a development program that aims to continuously bring up younger baseball players of the island and prepare them for bigger league.

Over the past several years, the Fall League had served as preparatory league for the Little League sluggers who wished to continue their career in SML.

Rogolifoi said that when players graduate from Saipan Little League’s Junior, Senior and Big divisions, they usually participate in the Fall League.

He said Little Leaguers are still welcome to join.
