The inter-village caging that started that started on April 28 was interrupted when lawmakers saw the need to fix the basketball court which appeared hazardous to players.
The fences were tearing apart with wires sticking out, and the concrete floor needed some retouch.
Six lawmakers who saw the basketball court’s condition asked the NYBA to hold the tournament for a while so that it can fixed first for the sake of everybody using the facility.
The renovation was funded and started right away, and John Ugarto, who assists NYBA league organizer Joe Diaz said they were assured by law makers two days ago that the basketball court will be done by June 28.
The tournament was already in its eighth game schedule when it was deferred.
Youth 16-years-under and 14-years-and-under from different villages in the northern side of the island are playing in NYBA.
Diaz has earlier said just okay for everybody that the league was interrupted as long as it is for their own safety.
He said the NYBA and its players are thankful to those who took action on the basketball court.
