THE Orioles continued their climb up the 2025 Saipan Baseball League standings by earning their second win on Friday, trouncing the Phillies, 22-5, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The Orioles’ hunger for a win was evident from the start as they took advantage of the Phillies’ early struggles. With the Phillies filling the top of the opening inning with walks and a fielder’s choice, the Orioles capitalized — scoring three runs off errors, then adding six more on hits, including a two-RBI triple by James Benavente to establish a 9-0 lead.

The Orioles continued to control the pace, adding five more runs. Benavente and Ryan Ada each recorded RBIs, while on the other end, the Phillies managed just one run per inning.

In the third, the Orioles squeezed in two more runs, while the Phillies were left scoreless, falling deeper into a double-digit deficit, 16-2.

The Phillies’ biggest offensive push came in the bottom of the fourth. After holding the Orioles scoreless for the first time in the game, the Phillies responded with a two-RBI single by Oscar Setefano and an RBI single by Phil Passi, closing the gap slightly to 16-5.

The Orioles responded with a six-run rally in the top of the fifth to regain a comfortable lead, 22-5, triggering the 10-run mercy rule.

The Phillies had a final chance to stay in the game but were handed three quick outs, stranding two runners on base and conceding the game to the Orioles after five complete innings.
